Coach Ann-Marie Powell wins Div 1 title
LIONEL TOWN, Clarendon — Spartan FC crowned themselves champions of the FX Trader/Clarendon Football Association Division One competition with a comfortable 3-1 win over Free Town in the final at Monymusk Sports Club.
Coach Ann-Marie Powell, a recent graduate of the JFF/UTECH Coaching School was ecstatic with the win, which moves Spartan FC into the Major Leagues for the upcoming season.
The JFCA congratulates Coach Powell on her achievement and wish for her continued success in her coaching career.
Coach Donovan Hayles finally wins!
Coach Hayles after failing to win when leading by 13 points in the 2007/2008 season, ensured that Harbour View came away winners with two rounds of games remaining.
Harbour View's win was helped by a dismal display by, challengers and defending champions, Tivoli Gardens FC, who lost there last three games. This allowed Harbour View to extend their lead to an unassailable 8 points going into their final game against no one else but Tivoli Gardens.
This win was definitely one that Hayles wanted badly as he was vilified two seasons ago for losing after having such a strong lead going into the final round of the competition. Fans never forgave him, and it took a show of character for Hayles to come back this season, and finally win over the fans again. The JFCA extends congratulations to Hayles.
